89: Homeschooling Summer School vs. Taking a Summer Break

Are you not sure if you want to be a Year-Round Homeschooler or if you should take a Summer Break?

 

Here's a few things to consider to help you decide:

 

1. Give yourself permission to change it up year by year.

2. It depends on yourself & your kids & your plans for the summer. If you have a vacation planned or summer camps planned & you need a break, then take a break. If you need to fill your summer with activities, then make summer school a fun school filled with games, field trips & experiences.

3. You can do both. Half the summer as school & the other half as a break. & you can break it up however it fits into your schedule

4. Downshift your school to continue the habit so that starting up again in the fall isn't such a challenge

87: History Lessons that Add Meaningful Memories into your Homeschool! Here’s a simple & engaging way to add it to your school!

Is history NOT your favorite subject to teach in your homeschool? Do you have a history curriculum that's kind of boring?

Here's a fun way to add Meaningful Memories to ANY History Lessons!

1. Tell stories to your kids about your childhood

2. Include other Family to Tell Stories about theirs

3. Include pictures, take them to the places in your stories, eat the foods, to relive those experiences

4. Comprehension activities: Have them keep a journal or write or draw out the stories, their favorite parts, what they would like to experience, could they relate?, is there a time where they can experience it too?

86: Hoping things will get Better at your Kids school, but it’s Not? What to do when you’re on the Verge of Homeschooling.

I wasn't ready to homeschool, so I sent my kid to public school. But I continued to see that my kid was not flourishing. I wasn't placing my kids needs first, I was pushing my own hopes first. "Hoping that things would get better", even when everything showed it wasn't.

Here's what to do when you're on the Verge of Homeschooling but you're just not sure & How to come to a decision.

 

1. What do you expect for your kid's school/ education would do for your child?

2. List the reasons you continue to send your kid for school. Are they meeting your expectations?

3. List the reasons homeschooling would benefit your child. Would this meet your expectations more or less?

4. List your fears, excuses or doubts for homeschooling.

5. What can you do to ease those concerns.

6. Make a timeline for your decisions.
